Dear Dyslexic Annual Gala

Dear Dyslexic Annual Gala

Resilience; the courage to fall and rise

Dear Dyslexic Annual Gala, Friday 18 October 2019

Every day, people who have dyslexia struggle with the daily challenges of life which can lead to disengagement and disconnection from their education, employment and relationships.

By sharing stories of struggle, resilience and success, the Dear Dyslexic Foundation want to give young people and adults with dyslexia hope that they too can succeed and reach their full potential.

To raise awareness, vital funds and unveil these hidden stories of dyslexia our 2nd annual fundraising gala will be held on Friday October 18, 2019.

Our guest speaker:

This year we are excited to have Jackie French AM as our guest speaker.  Jackie is an Australian author, historian, ecologist; 2014–15 Australian Children’ Laureate; and 2015 Senior Australian of the Year.

Many of Jackie’s books have sold millions of copies and won over 60 awards in Australia and internationally.

Jackie is also dyslexic and patron of literacy programmes across Australia with a wide and deep — if accidental — experience in learning differences and methods and their outcomes for students, as well as a passionate advocate for equal-opportunity education. Instead of hobbies she has: written over 200 books; built a house and power system; planted thousands of trees; eaten lunches with friends; read to her grandkids; tried to and her glasses and eaten dark chocolates and whatever fruit is in season.
